Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: CONFINED
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazard of asphyxiation during entry of a confined space. (a)Worksite located at Mezabish Lane: On or about 7/14/04, safe procedures for confined space entry were not utilized during entry of a storm drain manhole; an employee was exposed to an asphyxiation hazard resulting from exposure to an oxygen deficient atmosphere inside the manhole. Among other methods, feasible means of abatement would be to develop and implement a confined space entry program that meets the requirements of OSHA 1910.146 or ANSI Z117.1-1989 or newer. ABATEMENT CERTIFICATION REQUIRED
