Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that: a) Courtyard Marriott, Tampa - Roof - An employee was exposed to a fall of approximately 60 feet while pushing a portable roof rig. The employee periodically leaned over the 20 inch high parapet wall to talk to the window washer seated in the boatswain's chair. Abatement method - Install a portable guardrail system or use a fall arrest system.
