Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: LOCKOUT
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: (a)American Seafoods Company (F/T Northern Jaeger): On or about February 8, 2010, employees were exposed to a caught-in / amputation hazard created by not locking out the electrical power source of the Hobart slicer equipment when cleaning the blade or changing out the blade. One feasible means of abatement would be to: (a) Install a readily accessible electrical disconnect or receptacle plug to replace the hard-wired conduit to provide a means of disconnecting the power supply each time the equipment is cleaned or serviced.
