Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to electrical hazards in the engine room: (a)Icicle Seafoods Inc (P/V Bering Star): On or about January 27, 2009, unqualified employees were exposed to electrical shock hazards due to two unguarded openings and one unsecured junction box door exposing busbars and energized circuits on (1) 120V, (1) 208V and (1) 480V pieces of equipment. Among other methods, a feasible means of abatement would include protecting open circuits with a cover as required by the 2008 NEC article 110.27(A)(2).
