Labor and Employment Article, Section 5-104(a): The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees: (a)Date of Violation:03/17/04 Location:Kitchen Area Condition:Employees who worked on ladders above 1/2 inch copper water pipes protruding 4 to 8 1/2 inches above the floor were not protected from impalement in the event of a fall. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to guard the pipes with rebar caps or construct a guard to cover the protruding pipes. Abatement documentation (photographs, receipts, copies of programs, training certification, etc.) is required for this item.
