Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: EXPLOSION
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that: At the Frank White #4, well site in Gregg Count, employees were exposed to fire/explosion hazards during the release of flammable natural gas into their surrounding atmosphere. Alternative practices by the industry may include but are not limited to the following: a) Piping the gas from the water truck to a flair at a safe distance. b) The "blow out" oil, saltwater, and gas could have been transferred through existing pipes (approx 500ft) to an existing tank capable of being used for this purpose. c) The well could have been circulated to control the release of gas.
