North Carolina General Statute 95-129(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of North Carolina: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: falls to a lower level of approximately 20 feet. a)jobsite, Vanburen Dr., Indian Trail, employees were exposed to falls of 20 feet by using a rough terrain forklift to access an elevated work area. Employees were riding the forks of the rough terrain forklift. NOTE: Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to abate this hazard is to: 1)Construct a platform for use with the rough terrain forklift in accordance with ANSI B56.6. 2)Use a ladder to access the work area. 3)Work from an aerial lift with fall protection systems meeting the requirements of 29 CFR 1926 Subpart M Fall Protection.
