Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: CUTS
P.L. 91-596 Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazard of impalement: a) At the worksite - Employees were exposed to impalement hazards while standing in front of a Stetson-Ross ripsaw in order to feed the machine for the purpose of cutting yellow pine boards into "nursery" stakes. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to feed the machine while standing from the side as indicated in warning labels that have been conspicuously posted by the manufacturer on the equipment.er
