Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: FALLING
Section 5(A)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish to each of his employees employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or were likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: Falls due to an aerial lift which was not operated on level ground as per manufacturer's directions On or about 09/30/04 an employee was exposed to the hazard of collapse and a fall of up to 25 feet while using an aerial lift to trim trees that was erected on unlevel ground contrary to the manufacturer's directions in the owner's manual. Among other methods, one feasible and accepted abatement method to correct the hazard is to follow the owner's manual and not operate the equipment on surfaces which are not level.
