Section 5(A)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish to each of his employees employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or were likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to being struck by falling trusses due to collapse and fall hazards. On or about 08/17/2004 the employer exposed his employees to a fall hazard of approxiamtely 15 feet from a collapse of the wood truss system, in that the trusses were not properly braced to prevent their collapse. Among other methods one feasible and acceptable abatement methods to correct this hazard would be: Follow the design and installation recommendation for adequate temporary bracing as design by a Registered Engineer,the manufacture of trusses,or another qualified individual designed in accordance with the guideline for bracing wood trusses from the Truss Plate Institute. PLEASE NOTE: CERTIFICATION AND DOCUMENTATION OF ABATEMENT IS REQUIRED FOR THIS VIOLATION.
