Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: STRUCK BY
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish to each of his employees employment and a place of employment which are free from recognized hazards that are causing or are likely to cause death or serious physical harm to his employees; in that, employees were exposed to the hazard of being struck by harvesting loaders: a) On or about 3/10/04, it was determined in the Sun Chief grove located on the south side of 4th Street in the 7100 block, employees operated harvesting loaders without mirrors, and functioning back-up alarms. Among other feasible methods, one acceptable method of abatement is to: (a) install side rear view mirrors to enhance visibility when the operators are reversing the vehicles; and (b) ensure that back-up alarms are functioning and audible to alert personnel when the vehicles are reversing. PLEASE NOTE: CERTIFICATION OF ABATEMENT IS REQUIRED FOR THIS VIOLATION.
