Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: (a)On or about February 4, 2004, employees walking, riding bicycles, and driving motorized carts through the parking lots located between the Cab Assembly and Stamping Facility (CAS) and the Assembly Plant, were exposed to being struck by vehicles due to undefined, unmarked, and unprotected walkways and poor illumination. Among some feasible and acceptable methods to correct the hazard, is to follow the commonly accepted practice of designating and protecting pedestrian walkways from vehicular traffic, as well as lighting the parking lot and roadway in accordance with ANSI/IESNA RP-7-01.NA
