Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: UNAPEQUIP
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: Rogers Avenue, Fort Smith, Arkansas: A Pitman II Articulating Boom Crane, mounted on the bed of a Ford F-600 1985 truck was not maintained in accordance with the owners operation manual in that the placards were missing, the right and left swing control for the boom was loose and slipping, the platform control handles were missing and the gate for the one man basket had been removed. AMONG OTHER METHODS, ONE FEASIBLE AND ACCEPTABLE ABATEMENT METHOD TO CORRECT THIS HAZARD IS: To comply with the Pitman Pelican Owners Operation Manual, Section I, II and III, Section I, Page 1-5 Placard Location. Section II, Page 2-24, The proper maintenance care of the upper and lower controls, and Section III, Page 3-8 through 3-10 the proper use of the preventative maintenance check list and make necessary repairs prior to putting the Pitman Crane back into operation.
