Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: CRUSHING
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer does not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that are causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees are exposed to being crushed by rolls of paper: At the establishment,located at 198 Commerce, Conway, Arkansas,rolls of paper weighing approximately 6,000 to 7,000 pounds were placed on the floor by a clamp truck operator and were not chocked or otherwise secured from rolling, exposing employees to the hazards of being struck by the roll. AMONG OTHER METHODS, ONE FEASIBLE AND ACCEPTABLE ABATEMENT METHOD TO CORRECT THIS HAZARDS IS: To ensure that all rolls when placed on the floor are chocked and the industrial truck operator verifies the chocks are in place before releasing the roll.
