Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: ELECTRIC
Minn. Stat. 182.653 subd. 2: The employer did not furnish to each employee, conditions of employment and a place of employment free from recognized hazards which caused or were likely to cause death or serious injury to employees: The employer failed to provide direct supervision to apprentice linemen assigned to work on high voltage electric transmission line towers, exposing them to the hazard of electrocution. This hazard is recognized by various sources, and was likely to cause death or serious physical harm to all employees exposed to it. This hazard caused or contributed to the death of an employee. Feasible means existed to eliminate or to materially reduce this hazard. Finally, the employer knew, or with reasonable diligence could have known, about the factual conditions that constituted the recognized hazard of electrocution in this case.
