Labor and Employment Article, Section 5-104(a): The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees: (a)Date of Violation:03/18/04 Condition:Employees climbing stadium light towers during the performance of maintenance activities, and exposed to fall hazards of up to 80 - 90 feet, were not provided training in the use of the Safety Cable Climbing Device provided on each tower and the personnal fall arrest equipment required by the manufacturer to be used with Safety Cable Climbing Device. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to develop and implement a training program for employees climbing stadium light towers to ensure they understood how to use the Safety Cable Climbing Device and associated fall arrest equipment to include, but not limited to, how to properly wear and use the equipment, its limitations, proper care, maintenance, and inspection.,
