Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: FALLING
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to falling off the moving lift truck: a) Normandy Court, Kinnelon Ridge Construction Site. Employees was riding on the rear and on the wooden platform of the forks of the lift truck were exposed to falls from the moving truck. Violation observed on or about 01/07/04. "Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to train operators not to allow other employees to ride on the truck and to instruct other employees in proper safety procedures while working around lift trucks."
