Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: FALLING

Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that: (a)On February 6, 2004, employees were exposed to a fall hazard of approximately 12 feet 6 inches while working from a platform elevated by a Pettibone 8042 all terrain forklift with no fall protection system in place. A feasible means of abatement would be to comply with American Society of Mechanical Engineers, ASME B56.6-1992 Safety Standard for Rough Terrain Forklift Trucks, which requires workers to utilize a restraining means such as a guardrail or a means for securing personnel such as a body belt and lanyard. No certification required. Violation Abated.on
