Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: CRUSHING
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to crushing hazards from the trailers being towed without the safety chains being attached to the towing vehicle: a.On or about October 28, 2003, the Zetor farm tractor tow hitch attachment did not have any attachment points for the trailer safety chains to be attached while towing the trailers around on the farm. One feasible abatement method among others would be to have attachment points welded onto the tow hitch attachment of the farm tractor to attach the trailer safety chains while towing trailers. ABATEMENT CERTIFICATION IS REQUIRED.
