Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: CRUSHING
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees exposed to the hazard of being crushed by mechanical parts: a) 720 Liberty Avenue, Staten Island, NY 10305. Employees, performing repair to a Bobcat loader, did not use the Lift Arm Support Device provided by the manufacturer to prevent inadvertent movement. This condition existed on or about 7/21/03. Feasible and useful abatement methods for reducing this hazard include, but are not limited to following the manufacturer's requirement to use the "Lift Arm Support Device" provided.
