Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm: The employer failed to follow established procedure for blowing out the conductor pipe and failed to ensure the required valves had been closed to control material coming from the hole, which allowed compressed air to blow waste material up the conductor pipe into the bottom of the rig floor causing the drill bushing and slips to explode from the rotary table fatally injuring an employee. Feasible methods to correct the hazard including, but are not limited to, controlling the compressed air flow.essed
