Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: LIFTING

Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to fall hazards: a) Employees were exposed to the hazard of falling approximately 15 feet while required to work from the bucket of a New Holland Skid-Steer Loader during tree planting operations at 4077 Lake Cook Road, Northbrook, Illinois. Among other methods, a feasible and acceptable methods of abatement would be the safe use of personnel lifting equipment such as but not limited to articulating and extensible boom platforms designed to elevate personnel to work stations above ground. No abatement documentation required for this item.
