Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: CAUGHT
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: ***Certification AND Documentation of Abatement Required*** the hazard of being caught between two 20 ton reels of paper while moving a reel of paper from the storage area to the re-reel spool holder, at the Pasadena Paper Mill in the re-reel section. Among other methods, a feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to maintain twenty-two inches between adjacent full reels of paper, as specified by Section 8.2.1, page 70, number 15 of J073-9600-0001,"Paper Machine Safety", Copyright July 1988, Revised May 1997, Beloit Corporation, Paper Machine Group.
