Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: CAUGHT
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which was free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazard of collapse and being caught between: (a) Residential Construction Site at 1071 So. 7th East, Sugar City, ID: Bonus Room: Employee(s) installing and working around trusses with an approximate span of 32 feet that were not adequately braced. (b)Residential Construction Site at 1071 So. 7th East, Sugar City, ID: Bonus Room: Employee(s) used California corner bracing instead of building exterior ground bracing to support the first truss. Note: Abatement certification is required for this item. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to follow the guidelines for temporary bracing set forth in HIB-91 summary sheet commentary and recommendations for handling, installing and bracing metal plate connected wood trusses published by the Truss Plate Institute.
