Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: LIFTING
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazard of being struck by the load should the below-the-hook lifting devices fail: a)Tool Room, Small Die Hook, on or about 10/28/03: Below-the-hook lifting device used for lifting dies had no rated load capacity markings. b)Building 1, Fabrication Department, Large Die Hook, on or about 10/28/03: Below-the-hook lifting device used for lifting dies had no rated load capacity markings. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct these hazards is to: Mark the rated load of the lifting device on the main structure or equivalent in accordance with ASME B30.20-1993, Section 20-1.2.1. Abatement certification must be submitted for these items.
