Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: STRUCK BY
Section 5(A)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish to each of his employees employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or were likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazard of being struck by ligthing: Catherine Island Field # 12: On or about 04/28/03, employees were exposed to the hazard of being struck by lightning while working in the open field during adverse weather conditions. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is the implementation of an effective safety program that prevents employee exposure to potentially dangerous weather conditions. PLEASE NOTE: CERTIFICATION AND DOCUMENTATION OF ABATEMENT IS REQUIRED FOR THIS VIOLATION.
