Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazard of being struck by pieces of kegs or soda fountain cylinders: (a) Location - Aluminum Bailing Area: On or about 6/9/04, employees were exposed to being hit by large metal pieces from exploding kegs and soda fountain cylinders while they were being crushed in the bailer. Among other means, one feasible means of abatement would be to: Use a pressure relief device with a gauge to ensure that no pressure is present in the containers prior to being crushed.rs
