Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazard of falling while working in a vertical mast lift without the midrail chain in place. (a) Location - 51 Vassar Street, Cambridge, MA On or about 06/25/2004, an employee working from a vertical mast lift was not protected from falling by means of a chain midrail. Among other means, feasible means of abatement would be to: 1) Follow the manufacturers instructions and chain or close access gates.
