Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: CHEMICAL
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazard of being burned by hot or corrosive chemicals: (a) Location - Regen area: On or about 9/28/04, employees were exposed to the hazard of being burned by hot, corrosive chemicals when piping for the demineralizer system was not suitable to withstand operating conditions of the system, including but not limited to high temperatures, pressures, and corrosive liquid. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to use piping, including but not limited to Resistoflex piping, that is suitable for these operating conditions.
