Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: CRUSHING
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to crushing hazards: (a) Location - 407 Mystic Avenue, Medford, MA: On or about 05/07/03, employees were exposed to a crushing hazard from falling concrete blocks while demolishing a concrete block wall. Among other methods, feasible means of abatement would be to develop a demolition plan that addresses the removal of the block from the top down, also provide training for the exposed employees in the safe and proper means of demolishing a wall similar to OSHA STD's in CFR 1926.850 or ANSI A10.6-1969.
