Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: STRUCK BY
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazard of being struck by high speed traffic. (a) Location - Route 128N CD Road at Exit 32B: On or about 11/8/02, employees were exposed to being struck by vehicles while removing road closure signals and traffic cones. Feasible means of abatement include, but are not limited to the following: 1. Ensure that established safety plan for work zone safety is followed at all times. 2. During the highly vulnerable and short duration task of setting up or removing traffic control equipment, ensure that either police details are utilized or other protective measures are implemented to protect employees in the work zone.
