Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: FALLING
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to fall hazards: (a) Plant- The employer allowed the use of wooden stepladders by employees required to enter metal water reservoirs. The employer did not ensure that the wooden stepladders were being used in accordance with the purpose for which they were designed. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to correct this hazard is to include, but not be limited to the following: (1) Conform to the American National Standard Institute A14.1- 1990 Section 8.3 No abatement certification or documentation is required for this item.
