Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: FALLING
Section 88.4 - Code of Iowa (2001) 88.4: The Employer did not furnish to each of his employees a place of employment which is free from recognized hazards that are causing or are likely to cause death or serious physical harm. Employees were exposed to crane hazards: (a)Falcon Ave & 150th Street, Breda, IA - Removing pins from the 1968 Link Belt Crane, serial number LR-3592, model number LS-98, employees were allowed to crawl underneathe the boom section. The lower boom section was not secured nor was the pendant tight before pins were removed causing this section to fall on an employee. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to re-train all employees on the manufacturers instructions on disassembling the boom. This condition was noted on December 6, 2002.
