29 CFR 1910.29(a)(3)(viii): A stairway for Mobile Ladder Stand was not provided for proper access and egress: a)Discovery Box Area - an employee was observed retrieving materials while a using a Mobile Ladder Stand (rolling ladder) for improper access and agress on or about May 21, 2003. Abatement note to correct hazard as per Section 6 of ANSI A14.7-2000, American National Standard for Mobile Ladder Stands and Mobile Ladder Stand Platforms, safe practices should include: 1. handrails should be used while ascending or descending the unit 2. the user shall face the ladder when ascending or descending a unit except when the slope of the ladder is 50 degrees or less above the horizontal 3. overreaching, while on a unit, could cause instability and result in a fall. 4. always keep the unit in close proximity to the work 5. descend and relocate the unit to prevent overreaching ABATEMENT DOCUMENTATION REQUIRED
