Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: FALLING
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that the employees were being exposed to a fall/thrown hazard to the ground : a) On site at 5917 Manatee Ave, Bradenton, FL - Employees were using a Genie articulating arm basket to work on the store facia at heights of 14 to 16 feet above the ground and were not utilizing a body belt and lanyard or a harness and lanyard, on or about 8/19/02. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to correct this hazard is to follow the manufacturer's requirements for the use of body belts and/or harness and lanyards as indicated on the stickers of the unit and the requirements of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) A 92.5-1992 Standard for Boom-Supported Elevating Platforms.rted
