Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act. of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm in that employees were exposed to the hazard of falling or being thrown from a Boom-Supported Elevating Work Platform: a) Front of the building - Two employees installing metal over the windows 20 feet above the ground from the bucket of a Genie, S-85, Boom-Supported Elevating Work Platform did not have personal fall arrest systems, exposing the employees to the hazard of falling or being thrown from the bucket of the lift. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method of abatement is to follow the requirements of American National Standards Institute/Scaffold Industry Association, ANSI/SIA A92.5-1992, Boom-Supported Elevating Work Platforms: Section 8, paragraph 8.8(g), "Ensure all personnel in the platform are wearing fall protection devices and other safety gear as required at all times."
