North Carolina General Statute 95-129(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of North Carolina: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to pressurized aqueous ammonia: a)tank washing facility, for employees exposed to ammonium hydroxide solution (aqueous ammonia) while preparing tanker trucks for cleaning, in that the built-up pressure in the tank and/or lines was not removed or reduced. Abatement Note: Among other methods, one feasible and effective abatement method is to develop a procedure to remove or reduce the built-up pressure of tanker trucks with ammonium hydroxide. Once developed, the procedure would require implementation through training of employees.tion
