31-372-101 Section 31-370(a) of the Connecticut Occupational Safety and Health Act: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees who are exposed to the hazard of riding on the rear of refuse collection vehicles: Location: A)North Street / Platt Lane. 1)The employer whose employees ride on the rear of refuse collection vehicles did not ensure that employees were in the proper riding position as recommended by the manufacturer while the vehicle was in motion. Feasible methods of abatement: Train all employees on the manufacturer's guidelines for proper riding positions while the vehicle is in motion including but not limited to: a)Training, information and site specific protocols for the purpose and proper use of the rear side riding steps.
