Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: CRUSHING
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to a crushing hazard when operating powered industrial trucks without wearing the seatbelt: (a)On April 2, 2003 and at times prior thereto, employees operated powered industrial trucks without wearing seatbelts. NOTE: Amongst other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to require the use of seat belts when operating forklifts (Powered Industrial Trucks) throughout the establishment as required by ANSI/ASME B56.1, Paragraph 5.3.19. Note: Abatement certification required for this item.
