Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: FALLING

Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that: (a) At the jobsite, an employee was exposed to a potential fall of 20 feet while standing on concrete blocks that were stacked on the forks of a Case Lift #570 rough terrain, powered industrial truck, on or about 2/7/02. One means of feasible abatement, among others, American National Standards Institute (ANSI) Standard B56.6-1993, Safety Standard for Rough Terrain Forklift Trucks, Section 5.15.1, would be to provide a personnel platform which complies with the design requirement listed in part III (Section 8.25, Platform for Elevating Personnel) of this standard.
