Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: ELECTRIC
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to death or serious physical harm to employees. a. On or about September 18, 2002, at the above addressed jobsite, conduit used for running electrical wire was removed from the connector which secured it to a receptacle box. The path to ground was thereby lost and exposed to employees electrical shocks and electrocutions. Among feasible means of abatement would be to comply with the National Electrical Code 1999, Article 300-10 Electrical Continuity of Metal Raceways and Enclosures which reads: Metal raceways, cable armor, and other metal enclosures for conductors shall be metallically joined together into a continuous electric conductor and shall be connected to all boxes, fittings, and cabinets so as to provide effective electrical continuity.
