North Carolina General Statute 95-129(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of North Carolina: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to falling molds weighing between 50-250 pounds. a)throughout facility, an adequate Frequent Inspection procedure was not conducted on the Demag hoists. Reference 16-2.1.2 ANSI B30.16-1981 Overhead Hoists. b)throughout facility, an adequate Periodic Inspection procedure was not conducted on the Demag hoists. Reference 16-2.1.3 ANSI B30.16-1981 Overhead Hoists. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to correct this hazard would be to establish a inspection process that incorporated these requirements as well as any other recognized industry standards relating to cranes and hoists.
