Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: FALLING
Section 5 (a) (1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment or a place of employment which was free from recognized hazards that are causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees, in that employee were exposed to hazard of industrial powered forklift fall from docks. U.S Postal Service: On March 27, 2003, an employee was unloading a semi-truck when the truck pulled away, causing the industrial powered truck to fall to the ground with the employee still on the lift. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to implement procedures in the company's policy for checking trailer of the semi-trucks prior to releasing dock lock restraints.
