Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: On or about 2/16/2004, the Employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to laceration/amputation hazards,while using a DeWalt 12" Compound Miter Saw with the trigger switch tied in the "on" position.One feasible and acceptable method of abatement, among other methods, is to use the saw as designed with no provision for locking the switch in the "on" position. PLEASE NOTE: CERTIFICATION OF ABATEMENT IS REQUIRED FOR THIS VIOLATION.
