Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: EXPLOSION

Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to possible smoke inhalation: a) Post Office Annex, 33 Central Ave., Madison, NJ: Employer failed to maintain Simplex - 4002, Fire alarm System Panel in an operative condition. Violation observed on or about 10/23/2001 ABATEMENT NOTE: "Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to maintain the fire alarm system panel in an operative condition at all times in accordance with the Uniform Fire Code State of New Jersey - Subchapter 3 - Section 5:18-3.4(b)(1) Fire Protection Systems Maintenance".
