Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employmnent and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to a falling/crushing hazard: a- Dock area: Employer failed to implement a procedure to ensure that trailers are not removed from the dock door(s) before they are closed and ready to be pulled from the dock. Violation observed on or about 5/14/03. AMONG OTHER METHODS, ONE FEASIBLE AND ACCEPTABLE ABATEMENT METHOD TO CORRECT THIS HAZARD IS TO ESTABLISH AND IMPLEMENT A POLICY OF THE YARD JOCKEY OR DRIVER WALKING TO THE BACK OF THE TRAILER TO MAKE CERTAIN THE DOOR IS CLOSED.
