Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: FALLING
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employees a place of employment which was free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death, physical harm or physical harm to employees in that an employee was exposed to a fall hazard of 12 feet: (a)In the Warehouse - An employee was standing on the forks of an industrial truck approximately 12 feet above the floor. An approved personnel platform was not provided and a personal fall arrest system was not utilized; on or about 08/05/03. ABATEMENT VERIFICATION IS REQUIRED AS OUTLINED IN PART 29 CFR 1903.19 Abatement Note - Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to comply with the requirements of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers documents ASME/ANSI Section 4.17.2, Safety Standard for Low Lift and High Lift Trucks.
