Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: FALLING
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazard of employees falling from ladders: (a)Just For Feet shoe store - 3510 Mall Blvd. N.W., Duluth, GA - back of building - 32 foot Werner Craft Master aluminum extension ladder: On or about September 3, 2002, The employer did not follow the manufacturers instructions for the use of the aluminum extension ladder in that the a ladder rated for 250 lbs. was overloaded. One feasible abatement method is to evaluate the loads that will be applied during use, including the weight of the employee as well as all tools and materials, and to follow the requirements set forth by the manufacturer for the rated load limits of tha ladders. ABATEMENT DOCUMENTATION AND CERTIFICATION REQUIRED
