Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: FALLING
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employmnent and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to head injuries and/or amputations due to hazards of falling and/or being caught in a moving conveyor while climbing over it on or about 8/29/02. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct the hazard is to install a crossover walkway surface as stipulated in ANSI B.20.1-1957, Section 7.705.
