Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001 Hazard: LIFTING
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to THE HAZARD OF BEING STRUCK-BY THE LOAD : a)Yard Area, on or about 6/18/02: Employer was not inspecting the below-the- hook lifting device(lifting magnet) attached to a Link Belt model 6000, crawler mounted hydraulic scrap and material handler machine per ASME B30.20-1993. ABATEMENT NOTE: One feasible means of abatement is to ensure that lifting magnet is inspected per ASME B30.20-1993, Chapter 20-3, Section 20- 3.3.1 Abatement certification must be submitted for this item. b)Yard Area, on or about 6/18/02: Employer was not inspecting a Link Belt model 6000, crawler mounted hydraulic scrap and material handler machine per ASME B30.25-1998. ABATEMENT NOTE: One feasible means of abatement is to ensure that scrap and material handler machines are inspected per ASME B30.25-1998, Chapter 25-2, Section 25-2.1.3 and Section 25-2.1.4. Abatement certification must be submitted for this item.
